NJ Gov.Corzine wants to help illegals

Corzine forms new panel to help immigrants

With federal immigration reform bills stalled in the U.S. Congress, Gov. Jon Corzine is forming a committee to come up with ways for the state to tackle a range of immigration-related problems.

The governor signed an executive order at Liberty State Park in Jersey City today creating a 27-member blue ribbon panel charged with coming up with ways to help immigrants assimilate into the state more quickly.

"For years New Jersey has been a gateway to America - a place of opportunity and new beginnings," Corzine said. "And today we take an important step in creating a comprehensive statewide strategy for weaving immigrants into the economic, social and civic fabric our communities and state."

The group will consider issues including education, citizenship, employment and workforce training, civil rights, fair housing, health care and language proficiency. It will be chaired by state Public Advocate Ronald Chen and must report its findings and recommendations to Corzine by 15 months after its organizational meeting.

The move is seen as the latest in a growing trend among municipal and state governments across the country who find themselves grappling with growing immigration problems and no federal solution in sight.

Hopes for a solution at the federal level were dashed in June when a bipartisan bill that would have legalized millions of illegal immigrants and cracked down on employers of illegal immigrants collapsed in the U.S. Senate.

The only way that he should be helping is by deporting them.

    (New member here from NJ!)

After reading this and the link, I emailed the Corzine with our feelings on this matter basically saying that our tax dollars will not support helping illegal immigrants! Plus pointing out that aiding and abetting illegal aliens is a felony. Mind you, this is the same Governor who got hurt in a car crash for not wearing a seat belt when it's the law to wear one. So it's no wonder this fool hasn't got a clue! We are in serious trouble here in NJ.

Everyone in NJ needs to flood Corzine's inbox with concerns!

It boils my blood all of this because I had to leave the U.S. for 2 years in order to marry my husband who is British and then went through the U.S. Visa process so we can move to NJ near my family. My husband had to get a complete medical, including immunizations and now works in NYC, paying taxes, with a real SS#, and so on. (Getting a Visa is difficult and costly but that is the way it should be). It angers both of us because we did things the "right way" and watch others just completely give no regard to the law or country whatsoever.

When I moved back into my home town, I could not believe how much changed in 2 years!! It is over run with Spanish/Portuguese and so forth. I already told my husband that if they even dare try to teach my sons any Spanish in the school system, I will make the biggest stink ever. Call me a racist, I really don't care. We didn't go through "heck & back" to be here and watch others completely give no regard to the country, to the language, or the law.

    Sorry to vent here....

I really wish there was a way to deport New Jersey's leaders. Lets look back, 1) Christy Whitman. Took the farm exemption for her home while Gov. Told everyone the WTC site was safe days after 9/11. 2) Florio. Self explanatory, cannot write list that long. 3) McGreavey. Married w/children. Likes men (secretly). Sues wife because she "shoulda known". 4) Corzine. Rich man w/ ego issues. Abuses State Police security detail with high speeds, no seatbelt, etc. Now we pay to chopper him around the state. Now the "immigration" panel. As a New Jersey taxpayer, would someone please shoot me? Now you know why we are the "butt" (McGreavy pun intended) on most jokes. Maybe if we reunite the Sopranos we can actually get someone in office who is effective.
