Judy I hear ya, So. California here! I have even seen caravans of passenger vans with Mexican Church names on the side, with mexico plates, arriving at the hospitals and clinics, filled to the brim with people. I heard of school bussing, but bussing your sick across the border to get free care?????

A good friend of mine got in a car wreck Sunday and ended up in the worst Dallas emergency room you could imagine, a place called Parkland Hospital. It was 95% Hispanic and filled to the rafters. Nobody spoke English and police officers were escorting "patients" everywhere you looked. Man--it was like a bad dream. I've been in emergency rooms a few times but this was like a ticket straight to hell. It was chaos. America may survive this Third World deluge for a while, but that trip to ER this weekend helped me understand that we are living in a fool's paradise if we think we can continue this invasion of illiterate, desperate people.

BobC--it is a very serious situation. A year ago I calculated how many aliens are in the country. There were 50,000,000 then and by now around 55,000,000 is my best guess. This is one-sixth our population. We are completely infiltrated.

It has to stop now.

BobC...the government is selling us out. They are doing so to eliminate the American Ideology. To do that they have to control the American People. To control the American People, they have to have access to our money; our phones; our movements; our purchases; our lives. There will soon come a moment where you will want and need to do things other than what you did today. There will be a time when you will not want this government to know what you are doing; where you are going; who you are talking to; or what you are purchasing.

That time is coming very very soon.

Walmart originally denied knowing they hired illegal immigrants. But as I recall, there were taped telephone conversations between Walmart executives and the contractors which indicated they knew that illegal immigrants were being hired.

Also, I read that Walmart has some fancy computer system which tells warehouse employees to speed up in either English or Spanish.

Workers who are not able to move pallets piled high with boxed products fast enough are told to speed up by a "soothing" computerized voice delivered instantly through wireless headphones they must wear at all times. "You can choose whether you want your computer voice to be a man or woman, and you can choose English or Spanish", a Wal-Mart executive says proudly.

I wonder if many of these are illegals.

Perhaps, Walmart executives believe they can better disguise the hiring of illegals, if they hire the illegals themselves rather than through contractors. You can never be too cynical when it comes to these mega-companies, especially a company as ruthless as Walmart.

In the US its sales clerks made an average of $13,861 in 2001, almost $800 below the federal poverty line for a family of three. It is reported to have told new employees how to apply for food stamps so that they don't starve to death. In November, the police found hundreds of illegal immigrants working as cleaners in its stores. Some of them claimed that they were obliged to work seven nights a week, without overtime, insurance or benefits.

By forcing down the prices of the goods they buy, the superstores encourage even more repressive conditions in the companies that supply them. A recent study by Oxfam documents the systematic abuse of workers in the factories and farms that the superstores buy from. The Waltons are so rich because others are so poor.

In any case, I like the idea of holding companies accountable to the the misdeeds of the contractors. Otherwise, companies can just outsource everything and so "oh we didn't know." For instance, I think some hospital outsourced some transcription services which then led to the release of confidential information. But then, they just said, "oh well, that's the contractor, not us." If a company can't trust the contractor, then they should do it themselves.

GOOD POINTS about corporate responsibility. Again I have no pity for Wal-Mart and if they have some evidence that any manager or top executive knew they were hiring illegals then Wal-Mart was complicit and benefitting from the illegal service.
