A major drug recovery in southern Arizona netted more than 1,100 pounds of marijuana with a street value approaching $1 million.

Agents assigned to the Casa Grande station deployed a canine team on a trail in the west desert Tuesday afternoon.

The specialized dog team discovered 19 bundles of marijuana, weighing more than 1,150 pounds with an estimated value of more than $920,000. A thorough search of the area indicated that the smugglers had fled.

Tucson Sector Border Patrol spokesman David Jimarez says an anonymous tip led to the seizure. The Border Patrol encourages tips by calling 877-USB-HELP.
