Soldiers Sent to Texas-Mexico Border to Curb Drug War
Soldiers Sent to Texas-Mexico Border to Curb Drug War
Updated 10:00 AM CDT, Mon, Mar 9, 2009
U.S. soldiers are joining Mexican Federal Police on the El Paso-Ciudad Juarez border to help curb a drug war that has killed more than 1,000 people this year.
One thousand soldiers are being sent to the Texas-Mexico border to help control the latest outbreaks of violence by Mexican drug cartels.
The move is the latest by the U.S. Government to try to free citizens from daily assassinations, kidnappings and beheadings.
In the first 8 weeks of 2009, more than 1,000 people have been killed in the border drug war -- taxing Mexican morgues beyond capacity.
Drug cartels are now estimated to include more than 1,000 members.

Did they mean the drug cartel included 100,000? This is the number I heard over the weekend. Or was this a specific location in regards to the number? How dumb that our law enforcement have to spend time on the interior curbing this violence when it begins at the border and under the border in these tunnels that the drug cartels and human smugglers use.
Inexcusable that every state has become a target for illegal aliens and for drug cartels.
We can attempt to protect the borders of other nations and ask others to protect theirs, yet we have no regard for our own. Gotta keep that trade a'coming no matter the cost.
The situation is out of control.

You're right. Washington Times reported that the cartels were manned with 100,000 foot soldiers.

Our soldiers going into El Paso are really going into enemy territory.

Thank you Dixie for the confirmation.
According to much of the media, some politicians and open borders groups, the drug cartels are afraid to do their dirty deeds over here because they know we will not tolerate it? I may be missing something, but hasn't the violence already started and haven't we been tolerating it or masking it on this side of the border?
Soldiers on the border - someone tell Ms. Napolitano that it has spilled over.

The pro-IA's will tell you ..."well, it's only bad guys that are being killed in Phoenix...criminal on criminal" implying that we shouldn't take it too seriously. At what point do they consider it to be a crisis???
