MILWAUKEE (AP) - Federal immigration agents swept through Fond du Lac and West Bend today, arresting one woman along with 20 illegal immigrant workers while executing five search warrants.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement Department spokeswoman Gail Montenegro says 57-year-old Kam Yu Cheng of West Bend was taken into custody for harboring illegal immigrants for financial gain. Court records show she is a lawful, permanent resident from China.

Of those arrested for immigration violations, 12 were Chinese and eight were Mexican.

Montenegro says the 20 are in ICE's custody and will be placed into deportation proceedings.

Calls placed to a residential listing for Cheng in West Bend and both restaurants that were searched, one in West Bend and the other in Fond du Lac, went unanswered today.

According to an affidavit, authorities were tipped off in November that Cheng and 2 of her relatives were using illegal immigrants at Chinese buffet restaurants in Fond du Lac and West Bend. Cheng was the only 1 of the three arrested.
