TUCSON - Federal agents say smugglers sacrificed over $1 million worth of marijuana Monday in order to avoid capture.

Casa Grande-based Border Patrol agents working a remote area in the west desert found an abandoned vehicle and 104 bundles of marijuana inside. Agents searched the area, but were not able to find the smugglers.

The pot and the vehicle were transported to the Border Patrol Casa Grande station for processing.

The marijuana weighed more than 2,100 pounds and has an estimated value of more than $1.6 million.
