LOS ANGELES — The federal government says more than 350 immigrants who are fighting deportation have been held for more than six months in Los Angeles-area detention.
The list was turned over last month to the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California, which is suing the government in Los Angeles federal court. A judge ordered the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to turn over the list.
The ACLU wants the detainees to get hearings on whether they can be released while their deportation cases are pending.
