Yep, another problem that would be solved if we enforced our immigration laws and secured our borders.

It would be nice to know the source of the "13 armor-piercing rounds" as you can't buy those at the local gun store.

CBP Personnel Seize Ammunition and Magazines in Brownsville

    (Thursday, March 25, 2010)

Brownsville, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers and Border Patrol agents working outbound enforcement operations at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge on Wednesday seized 2,880 rounds of undeclared ammunition hidden in an SUV.

The case occurred when CBP personnel encountered a white Chevrolet Trail Blazer as it attempted to exit the United States to enter Mexico. The driver, identified as a 19-year-old Mexican citizen and resident of Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico was referred to secondary for further inspection. In secondary, further inspection of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 18 plastic bags containing ammunition. CBP officers discovered 13 armor piercing rounds of ammunition, 650 rounds of .30 caliber ammunition, 390 rounds of 9mm ammunition and 1,827 rounds of.223 caliber ammunition, as well as five high capacity .223 caliber assault rifle magazines.

The matter has been referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for further investigation.

“Brownsville’s CBP officers and Border Patrol agents were instrumental in preventing this ammunition from being exported contrary to federal law. I congratulate our team for this great interception of assault type ammunition and high capacity magazines in our outbound inspection area,â€
