State police say they’ve uncovered another case of someone illicitly helping illegal immigrants get New Mexico drivers licenses.

Police have arrested 23-year-old Adolfo Mora-Granados. He’s accused of using fake lease agreements to get driver’s licenses for at least four people at the San Mateo MVD office.

Police haven’t said if Mora-Granados is himself an illegal immigrant but an arrest report indicates he was born in Costa Rica.

Earlier in September, a Brazilian man was charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony after being accused of trying to get driver’s licenses for two other Brazilian men.

State police allege Cristian Sobral was paid $3,000 by the two men to fly them to New Mexico from New Jersey. They say Sobral was trying to get driver’s licenses for the men at an Albuquerque MVD office using a city address.

In July, an Illinois man was charged with human smuggling after allegedly placing an ad in a Polish language newspaper offering to help illegal immigrants get New Mexico driver’s licenses.

At least two people apparently took 32-year-old Jaroslaw Kowalczyk up on the offer. A criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Albuquerque says he transported two illegal immigrants from Chicago to Albuquerque, charging them $1,000 each.

Translated to English, the ad Kowalczyk allegedly placed read: “Driver’s license in the State of New Mexico. Social security not necessary. 100 percent guarantee.â€
