Fines jump for hiring of illegal immigrants

The federal government has increased fines for hiring illegal immigrants by as much as $5,000, effective today, as part of an effort to ramp up worksite immigration enforcement, but some say the nominal increase isn't likely to change how some companies do business.
Locally, The State Chamber — now embroiled in a lawsuit against the Oklahoma attorney general and Gov. Brad Henry over the statewide immigration enforcement statute, known as House Bill 1804 — said the fine increase is an example of how immigration laws should be enforced.

Wow! Think how quickly California can shorten it's 16BILLION $$ budget shortfall if it went after every employer who hires illegal aliens!
$16,000 x 10 million (conservative estimate) illegal aliens....the mind boggles.

Oklahoma businesses suffer competitively against companies from surrounding states that do not have to follow the same rules.
Doesn't that sound like what the American worker is saying...
"We suffer competitively against Illegal Aliens from surrounding countries that do not have to follow the same rules".
