Firms Brace for Crackdown on Illegal Labor

As a crucial hearing looms on a planned government crackdown on illegal immigrants in the workplace, many businesses are scrambling to figure out how they will cope with an expected loss of illegal labor.

I heard only 2 percent of illegals even work in Ag jobs....so where is the problem...their is none!!!!! What it is, is that their Corp. Ags elitist buddies crying for cheap labor in all other industries...Man...how many lies are we going to have to listen to before this crap ends and we get our Country back where she belongs with WE THE PEOPLE...we will never stop fighting

Another point I'd like to make, is that the author "Miriam Jordan" failed to acknowledge that the H2-A visa for Ag workers is UNLIMITED!.
Her phrasing implies that existing guest-worker programs are insufficient - this could be not be farther from the truth. The reality is that existing guest-worker programs supply only 2% of ag workers is more about doing business 'quick and dirty'. Many other people in many different types of business do not have that luxury. Certain farmers don't want to be bothered by trivial things like following the law, paperwork, dealing with the housing and related concerns, etc.

The judge hearing this was appointed by Clinton. I'll be pleasantly surprised if he rules in favor of this common sense enforcement measure.
