PALM BEACH —
Five illegal immigrants were taken into custody after police found them walking down the road on Sunday in Palm Beach, police said.
The five men were wet and barefoot when they were stopped by police walking near North County Road and Atlantic Avenue shortly after 6 a.m., said Palm Beach Police Capt. Frank Hess.
Police think three of them are from Turkey and the other two are from the Bahamas, Hess said. U.S. Border Patrol agents were called in and took custody of all five men. One of the men was also found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana, Hess said.
Officers searched the island and found a boat registered in the Bahamas that police think the men abandoned after they came ashore in the 1400 block of Ocean Boulevard near the Lake Worth Inlet, Hess said.
