Naples City Council today included language in city contracts that would prohibit contractors from hiring undocumented workers.

The decision means all contracts on today’s consent agenda needed to be pulled and amended to include the new language. The verbiage now prohibits contractors from using undocumented employees, said City Attorney Bob Pritt.

Prior to the changes, city contracts asked that contractors adhere to all state and federal guidelines when hiring employees.
