FL: Illegal Aliens in Bay County

    Illegal Aliens in Bay County

    Tuesday, March 6, 2007

PANAMA CITY, Fla.- This morning, at the request of Commissioner Dozier, the Bay County Commission voted to add language into their contracts saying illegal aliens will not work for the county.

All contractors hired by the county will have to follow federal immigration laws.

Contractors will therefore not be allowed to hire illegal workers and the county now has a right to ask to see proof of the employee's ability to work in the United States.

In addition, contractors caught using illegal workers will be subject to immediate termination by the county and will not be able to place bids for county work for a full year.

Way to go Florida! I was thinking about leaving this state soon; but I will stick around for a while now.

It really is encouraging how many states, counties and cities are trying to do the job our federal government won't do.
