MASCOTTE, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - Mascotte Police say a man was arrested this weekend after breaking into a family’s home and charging at a woman with a knife.

The victim, who did not want to show her face, says she was in bed watching television when she realized a stranger was in her room.

“I turned back to see the TV again and that’s when I see the door wide open and I see him coming toward me,” she said.

The woman says the man had a knife. Her hands are all cut up now because she says when he came toward her, she grabbed it, and started screaming.

The victim says her husband woke up and went after the intruder, who police have identified as 32-year-old Samuel Hernandez.

“He fell down the stairs and my brother-in-law was right here and started punching him and that’s when he let the knife go and my husband came downstairs and they had him until the cops came,” the woman said.

The break in and attacked happened late Saturday on Western Hills Lane in Mascotte. The family says they have no idea why Hernandez came into their home, where three children were sleeping.

“He was talking in Spanish saying that somebody sent him,” the victim said.

Hernandez also talked to the cops. According to his arrest report, he told officers that he traveled from Guatemala to Mexico to enter the U.S. illegally. He said that he met men there who offered to smuggle him into the country if he worked off his debt to them.

The report says Hernandez claimed that the traffickers told him to break into the home and steal. He said he panicked when he heard the woman screaming and tried to run out.

“I don’t know if he’s saying the truth or if he made it up because he was scared and didn’t know what else to say,” the victim said.

Mascotte Police say they contacted ICE about the case. Lake County Jail officials say ICE has a detainer on the suspect. Hernandez is facing several charges, including attempted murder.

Are they going to give him bail and let him go to break into someone else's home?

Maybe a PATH to citizenship?

Sign him up for welfare, food stamps, housing so he does not have to STEAL from American's? Oh that's right, they already steal from us by GIVING them those taxpayer funded benefits.

How about the government provide him a wife, who can have 8 anchor babies, and LIVE off of us for the next 3 generations.

This horrifying crime story about an illegal immigrant agreeing to work for the drug and illegal alien importing crime cartels is becoming all too common in America because our elected officials refuse to secure our borders and adequately enforce our existing immigration laws.

Instead, we have push after push for Amnesty for millions of illegal which only attracts in more knife-wielding illegals like Samuel Hernandez in Mascotte Florida!

REPORT: Man claims smugglers who got him across US-Mexico border ordered him to rob home

A man arrested in Florida for trying to stab a woman during a home invasion says he was given orders to steal to help repay a debt he owed to smugglers who got him into the U.S. illegally, according to a police report.

The 32-year-old claimed to have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border after traveling from Guatemala and was still in custody Tuesday at the Lake County Jail on an ICE detainer following the weekend incident in Mascotte, west of Orlando, records showed.

The article goes on to state the following:

“The traffickers armed him with two knives and told him that if things did not go as planned, he was to either run out of the house or take someone’s life to ensure he carries out the mission,” a police report obtained by Fox News stated.

Mascotte Chief of Police Eric Pedersen told Fox News he was informed by the Border Patrol Tuesday morning that the name the suspect gave investigators, Samuel Hernandez, was false, and that he could be facing more charges. He has already been charged with attempted murder and home invasion robbery carrying a deadly weapon, amongst other allegations, and his bond has been set at $330,000.

The woman, whose identity has been kept private, said she was watching television in bed Saturday night when the intruder broke into her home.
