    Minuteman rally at Congress Park

    Minuteman rally at Congress Park

CONGRESS PARK - About 50 supporters rallied this morning for immigration reform at Congress Park.

The event, organized by the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, was to push this year's presidential candidates to pledge to come up with a comprehensive plan to seal the United States' borders and end illegal immigration.

Activists with American flags and signs saying "Respect our Borders" and "Build the Fence" sat in the lawn underneath the trees as speakers rallied for change.

The gathering is taking place in a residential neighborhood east of downtown, where the Democratic National Convention kicked off today. But being so far from the convention didn't deter activists this morning.

"We have an invasion going on," said William Greene, president of rightmarch.com, "and if the people in Washington, D.C. aren't doing their no. 1 job, then we have an obligation to step forward."

"This is America," Greene said. "We know what is right. We know illegal means illegal."

Greene said when law-abiding citizens see that those who break the law are given "a free pass," it wakes up a sense of unfairness.

"When we all step up and we make our voices heard, we can make a difference."

I knew that this would not draw well. What they really need to do to get effective is to carry their banners with website addresses into the thick of the larger Amnesty support demonstrations. The US media would pick up on that and publicise the websites to the stay at home opponents of the open border movement.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
