Thread: Illegal ID Theft At Your Mailbox

I had a problem with my mail and learned about how letters with ID information are being stolen from mailboxes. This Jewish man was telling me about it. I met a lawyer friend at Starbuck's and he was also telling me about that as well.
There are people who know which papers contain this information and either they steal it or inform others to do so. What better than tax forms with your SSN and name and address or statements for retirement plans. This has to be stopped. We shouldn't have to deal with this.

Really no surprise. Clearly Bush's solution to this issue would be to give illegals a real ss number eliminating the need for them to seal one.

As desperate bUsH is to give the mexicans our country I think he likes it when they steal identities because it serves more then one purpose , Illegals can take jobs and send the money home plus it causes great hardships to Americans its really a win win situation for bUsH

Well I will tell you about my Aunt. I just found this out over the Christmas Holidays. Well two weeks ago, she checked her checking's account statement. Well someone was buying stuff with there checking account with the amounts of 300, 400 but no small numbers. Almost drained there account.Everything was bought in Mexico City. She has never been to Mexico. The FBI told her, that this is going on at an alarming rate. She lives in Chattanooga. Her son who lives in Charlotte, N. C. had the same problem 3 months ago, except with a credit card with charges of over 5,000 dollars. Again Mexico City.

There have been numerous cases like the one Scubayons mentioned in Florida as well. I have a lawyer friend who told me to never leave checks that are going out in my mailbox or drop them in the small mailbox at the condo mailbox. There have been many people who had a bill that had a check in it and it was stolen and their accounts were several thousand short. The money often also ended up in Mexico if not Central America.

This is so sick, these people are labeling us who are against them as Racist, we need to label them for what they are, thieves and thugs who are preying on the American people, this has got to stop!

Yep, after hearing on Dobb's show that they often steal children's SSN's I called last week to check on my children's numbers. Thankfully there was no action. However, the agent suggested I also check with all three credit agencies to see if their history is being used this way. He reminded me I can get one free report a year from each agency. He suggested I ask every four months for one report from each agency (there are 3 agencies X 4 months = a year). He even asked me to spread the word. Ahh, he also said the elderly's records should be checked -check for your grandparents. This was one helpful agent!!

Imagine if every American starts calling Social Security. Let's start with all alipacers calling. We'll get our reports in January -but we can certainly call about our children and elderly/those not working.

It is wise to do the credit checks regularly. Also be very vigilent about what kind of advertising you are getting. If you start getting ones about refinancing or consolidating credit card debts and the number they have in the ad matches what you don't own and if its not a standard letter, I would start calling. I once received one about consolidating credit card debt but yet owned nothing on credit cards as I paid them off as soon as I got them. When I called I found out that I had credit cards which I didn't own. I called the credit card companies to varify and cancel them and the credit reporting agencies and had them put a note on my account that I am to recieve a phone call asking if I am applying for a credit each time a credit application is made in my name. If it weren't for my vigilance the person who got a credit card with a $50,000 credit limit would have had a field day.

I have a friend that works for the Post Office and she suggested locking mailboxes would also deter mail theft.
