FL: Polk County denies permits for migrant dormitory!!!!!!!!

The good law-abiding citizens here won for a change. They didn't want a local citrus farmer to build a 132 person male dormitory to house his migrant slaves amongst a community of mostly single-family dwellings. Residents said it would affect their quality of life even if these invaders were brought in as H2-B visa holders! Yahoo.....the people have spoken and they said NO MAS!

Lake Buffum Labor Camp Project Unanimously Denied
    By DAWN WADE, Staff Writer

The Lake Buffum community will not be getting 132 new seasonal residents in the area anytime soon.

On Wednesday night, Polk County commissioners unanimously rejected a plan that would have allowed Tri-Ben Groves to build dormitory-style housing for 132 male migrant workers hired through the H-2A guest worker program.

The project called for a 55-acre, three-unit, 5,000 square-foot housing facility for agricultural laborers. Showers, shared kitchen facilities, and recreational facilities also were included in the plan.

    Neighbors stridently opposed the facility.

After a 3-to-2 denial by the county planning commission, the site plan was amended to move the project further from the road and add additional fencing, but these concessions did not satisfy neighbors, who cited noise, safety, and compatibility issues.

More than 100 residents, citrus workers, agricultural workers and lawyers filled the county administration building auditorium on Wednesday afternoon, and settled in for what became a six-hour hearing.

“This is a case of compatibility,â€
