Six Haitians in custody after coming ashore on Palm Beach before dawn

Six Haitians are in custody after coming ashore on the island of Palm Beach near the Palm Beach Country Club. They will be taken to the U.S. Border Patrol Station in West Palm Beach for processing. A 27-foot boat was beached nearby and seized by authorities, U.S. Border Patrol spokeswoman Elee Erice reported in an email this morning.

Authorities report they have detained six people suspected to be illegal immigrants who came ashore near the Palm Beach Country Club before dawn this morning. They are searching for two others.


Palm Beach police dispatchers report they were notified about the activity at 5:45 a.m. A boat is beached near the country club at 760 N. Ocean Blvd. Authorities from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Coast Guard are also on the scene.
