Florida Legislator Wears Passport to Work to Protest Arizona

Florida Legislator Wears Passport to Work to Protest Arizona-Style Immigration Measures

Florida Rep. Luis Garcia Jr. doesn’t wear his feelings on his sleeve – he wears them on the front of his shirt.

To protest his fellow legislators’ proposed measures taking a hard line on illegal immigration, Garcia, a Miami Democrat, is wearing his U.S. passport on a lanyard around his neck.

The message of his sartorial symbol is that if Florida follows Arizona in cracking down on illegal immigration by allowing police and other government workers to demand proof of legal residency, even U.S. citizens like himself will have to carry around IDs such as a passport or birth certificate to prove they’re legitimately here.

Lets connect the dots. If 76% of illegal aliens weren't from Mexico, Central and South America, then the majority of illegal aliens wouldn't look to some like Americans of Hispanic and Latino descent. If all Americans of Hispanic and Latino descent would stand up and stand tall with their fellows citizens of all descents against illegal immigration, then we wouldn't have an illegal immigration problem. If we didn't have an illegal immigration problem, no one would be asking anyone for ID looking for illegal aliens, because we wouldn't have any illegal aliens in the United States to look for.

See how that works, Luis Garcia? Instead of risking losing your passport to the next identity thief, why don't you stand up and stand tall with your fellow Americans to do what is right and support the AZ immigration bill introduced in Florida? Instead of selling out the country that welcomed you 40 years ago and has respected you with a seat in the Florida General Assembly and a citizenship passport to go with it, why don't you help US put an end to the ravages of illegal immigration by using our state and local law enforcement agencies to stop this disaster?

Well said Judy! If I have to produce a passport crossing from Canada to the US, why should Hispanics be exempt? They raise a stink 'cause they don't have the right documentation!

    Deport all illegal aliens

Hey Garcia, we are sick and tired of people like you. We want enforcement and we do not want illegals in our country. We have to enforce our immigration laws. If you do not want to enforce our immigration laws, Garcia, find another job. We do not want you, Garcia. In particular we do not want you because you are a Democrat.

In Florida we have alot of South Americans who overstayed visas. Then you have Haitians and others from the Caribbean. Add in the Eastern Europeans, Israelis, Central Americans and that is pretty well what we have alot of in the state. Cubans are very close buddies with the Colombians which make up a large percentage of those who overstayed visas. Anyone recall Miami Vice and the cocaine cowboys during the 80's? The Cubans were the middlemen for the Colombians and still are. Why do you think there is the problem between the mayor and the police chief in the City of Miami over the police clamping down on drug dealers who are shooting in the streets of Overtown and Liberty City. The police have shot and killed 6 people in that area. Four were felons who were illegally in possession of a gun and have several arrests for drug dealing. If you watch The First 48 and see those areas on the show it is worse that they even protray it on the show. Yet the Cuban mayor is upset about enforcement and wants it stopped.
