Illegal alien receives 10-year sentence for meth distribution



A man described by federal prosecutors as an illegal alien has received a ten-year prison sentence for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine.

Javier Garcia-Salcido, 37, of Mexico pleaded guilty to the federal charge this week and was given the sentence by U.S. District Judge Larry McKinney. According to the U.S. attorney’s office, Garcia-Salcido was one of three people in a car that was carrying methamphetamine from Lafayette to Indianapolis on June 8, 2005. An investigation by several local and federal police agencies led to his arrest.

Since Garcia-Salcido is an illegal alien, he will be deported once his ten-year sentence has been served, the U.S. attorney said
