Bridgeport (AP) _ Prosecutors say a former state Department of Motor Vehicles worker has been sentenced to five years in prison for her part in a fake driver's license scheme.
Julie Lucas of Ansonia was sentenced Friday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
In October, the 39-year-old pleaded guilty to violating the Corrupt Organizations and Racketeering Act, conspiracy to commit second-degree forgery and conspiracy to commit bribery.
Authorities say she accepted a bribe for issuing a fake license while she worked for the DMV. After she left, she explained the scam to a relative who worked there and they split bribes from six people who got fake licenses.
Lucas is accused of being part of the ring that sold licenses to illegal immigrants from the Bridgeport DMV between January 2001 and December 2004.
The alleged ringleaders of the scheme, Venita Bines of Bridgeport and Tracy Stevenson-Lucas of Stratford, are serving seven-year prison sentences.
