Vicente Fox, the former president of Mexico, will present the first Landon Lecture of the 2008-2009 school year at Kansas State University.
Fox's lecture, the 152nd in the prestigious Landon Lecture Series, will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, in K-State's McCain Auditorium. The lecture is free and open to the public.
"Vicente Fox is the second Mexican president to present a Landon Lecture at K-State. He joins a prestigious list of Latin American leaders, including former Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo, Jose Napoleon Duarte of El Salvador, Oscar Arias Sanchez of Costa Rica and Violeta Chamorro of Nicaragua, who have shared their experiences and insights as heads of state through the Landon Lecture Series," said Charles Reagan, Landon Lecture chair.
Fox served as president of Mexico from 2000-2006. Among his focuses were fighting drugs and corruption and working to ease immigration policies with the United States.
Before becoming president, Fox served as governor of Guanajuato, a state in central Mexico, from 1995-1999. He first entered politics in 1988 with an unsuccessful candidacy for the Mexican congress.
Fox has been a successful rancher and businessman. He joined Coca Cola in 1964 and went on to head its operations in Mexico and the Caribbean.

Time to call k-state and tell them you have friends who attend the college and that you are upset with this moron being able to speak on campus because as we all know, hes just going to spout his mexican crapola and tell us that we need to allow mexicans to stay here, even if they are illegal.
I just got off the phone with the spoker person for the group and he said he has no problem with speakers with views from the other side.
i told him that i attended the one here in april where he spoke and his rants weer about illegals being able to stay here, that the US needs comprehensive reform and such, and the person i spoke with said that hes never said that. he also told me that the podcast or transcript of this would be put online a week after and can be found on www.ksu.edu/landon
