California Senate Passes Driver's Licenses for Illegals
Associated Press -- June 1, 2006
Senate approves driver's licenses for illegal immigrants
SACRAMENTO The Senate is advancing a bill that would let the state issue driver's licenses to illegal immigrants, over the objections of Republicans including Governor Schwarzenegger.
Senator Gil Cedillo (Sah-Dee'-oh) says his bill is needed as the deadline approaches for California to comply with new federal regulations for identification documents adopted after the 2001 terrorist attacks.
But the Senate rejected an amendment that would have met the federal rules without letting illegal immigrants drive.
The measure now goes to the Assembly.
This is Cedillo's latest attempt in eight years to pass an immigrant driver's bill.

Senator Sedition just doesn't seem to get it, over 70% of the people of California said NO. This Jabrony just makes an entire career out of attempting to facilitate illegal aliens. He has proposed this bill once a year for the last 8 years. He introduced a bill to reduce the penalties for driving without a license for illegals only, legal citizens would still get slammed. He introduced a bill where if a Police officer had an illegals car towed for being unlicensed, unregistered or uninsured, the officer would have to drive them HOME! Thank goodness they have all failed. Why does this guy keep getting re-elected? The Gerrymandering in California is sooo bad most districts look like a paint splatter in order to insure the humps get re-elected in perpetuity. In the last major election there were 183 seats up for grabs between the state house and senate, not one....not ONE single one changed the butt sitting in it. How about your state?

I guess it's almost time to get in touch with state legislators to end reciprocal driver's license with CA?

Not to be denigrating californians here, why in the world do they keep on voting these kinds of people back in? It is just not california, why does Teddy Kennedy and McCain, keep getting relected? Is the Kennedy name so elite that people from Ma, will just keep on electing this drunk, bag of hot air over and over just because his name is Kennedy, I can't think of another reason for his re-election to senate, same for John McCain is it only because he is a public "hero"? We the people only have ourselves to blame for making the same mistake over and over, just as I did with Bush, I still cannot see myself voting for Kerry, I guess I could have simply stayed at home, probably next time when it is a run between 2 evils I will stay at home!
Driver liscense for Illegals, why not just hand them a carte blanche to our country and be done with it?
I guess, I will keep on fighting with the rest of you to the end, sometimes it just gets so depressing and frustrating.Build the dam fence post haste!

(Mod Edit) This guy belongs in Mexico where incompetence prevails. Heck, the Mexicans are still trying to pass a law to allow drug possesion which was vetoed by Fox.

Redistricting. It preserves the status quo, and frankly, I believe too many people, especially younger voters (18 to 35) are too self-absorbed in their little world, uninformed and therefore uninterested.
Look when the amount of news they get is summed up in The Daily Show - and the homepage for MSNBC you know they are getting next to nothing in terms of substance.
One other point I'd make is that here in California there is virtually NO regular television coverage of political agenda, be it the city council itinerary, pending legislation in CA legislature, National congressional coverage, or even International political coverage.
The 'news' is nothing more than a dumbed-down, whitewashed, emotionally geared, intellectually bankrupt, sensationalist -celebrity driven, globally run ambulance chase.
That's how they keep getting voted back in.

it will never make it past the gov. The whole premise that Davis was recalled mostly in part for signing it into law is completely lost on Gil Cedillo.

Swartzenegger's posture toward illegal immigration has been pretty clear especially since he is a naturalized American citizen. here in Jersey we had an assembly fruitcake named Vos who proposed a driving privilege card for illegals...didn't go far and the idiots bid to run for US House rep was killed also in the primary.
