As we've been reporting, the system had several chances to keep murder suspect Abel Arango off the street, but didn't.

Now we're focusing on another issue: immigration law and enforcement.

The death of officer Andrew Widman and the subsequent details of Abel Arango's past has raised many questions.

Some of ours are: "What happened?" "Why wasn't Abel Arango flagged every time he was arrested as a violent illegal immigrant who was supposed to be deported?" "Does Immigration and Customs Enforcement have the tools it needs to keep us safe from this?"

Government bureaucrats in charge don't always want to explain themselves to you face to face. Fox 4's Tyisha Fernandes found that out at ICE's main office in Miami on Tuesday.

She found that not only does ICE avoid answering questions, officials are furious that we're daring to ask them.

ICE Public Information Officer Barbara Gonzalez repeatedly refused to come out from her office and talk with us face to face.

Her only response was,"We (ICE) had to follow the law and supreme court rulings and release Arango when Cuba refused to take him back."

She said it's not ICE's place to question the law and refused to discuss it further.

If you want to voice your opinion to ICE, call the agent in charge Anthony Mangione.

His number is (305) 597-6000 extension 6030. You can only reach him during business hours, 9am-5pm. You can also e-mail him at anthony.mangione@dhs.gov.

Important ICE Phone Number Clarification

Fox 4 News would like to warn our viewers that they will not be getting the correct Immigration and Customs Office if they call tonight.

Apparently the Miami ICE office line automatically forwards calls to the Orlando office after hours, and the Orlando office is not involved in our story. They will not be able to get you to Mr. Mangione's office.

To get the appropriate office, you must call the number we provided during daytime business hours. Unfortunately, Fox 4 was not made aware of the after-hours call forwarding when we were given this number.

The phone number we broadcast on Tuesday night's show is 305-597-6000, extension 6030. You can also e-mail Mr. Mangione at anthony.mangione@dhs.gov.
