Frankfort hosts meeting tonight on illegal immigration
STAFF REPORTS
FRANKFORT - The community is encouraged to attend a town meeting tonight to discuss illegal immigration and quality of life issues in Frankfort.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at Kyger Elementary School, 300 S. Third St.
Mayor Don Stock will be one of three mediators for a 15-member board recently formed to look at illegal immigration and quality of life issues in the Clinton County city.
The board was created after the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce sent letters in late September encouraging a crackdown on illegal immigration.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Clinton County has seen its Hispanic population increase by more than 70 percent - from 2,478 residents in 2000 to an estimated 4,207 residents in 2006.
