Guam

Guam- The Department of Labor has confirmed that two illegal immigrant workers who flew to Guam from the Phillipines were arrested by U.S. ice while working for the Guam Power Authority. DOL Alien Labor Processing and Certification Division Administrator, Greg Massey says they found the two workers after they received a tip regarding 7 possible illegal workers on island...the two identified as Melchor and Diolito Banda were employed by MSE builders to install underground powerlines for GPA. Massey adds the two came to Guam three years ago under a short term visa, but never got on the boat they were supposed to work on. While DOL continues its investigation to find out how the illegal workers were employed, GPA General Manager Kin Flores says he was shocked to hear the news. Flores adds his staff is in the process of discussing the matter.

Meanwhile, Massey also stresses that contractors need to ensure that all their workers are eligible, and that their visa's are up to date. He adds that all federal, govguam, and private companies can find out more by visiting the Department of Labor office to avoid this problem from happening again.
