Re: .
Ditto sdbrit68! There's 25,000 people who live in Fremont. The American citizens barely beat out the illegal invaders who turned out to cast a vote. I bet turnout among illegal invaders was close to 100%.

Fremont Voters Pass Controversial Illegal Immigration Law
Posted: Jun 21, 2010 8:22 PM CDT Updated: Jun 21, 2010 11:05 PM CDT
WITH FEATURED VIDEO
Fremont, NE - Fremont is facing a lawsuit after the town's voters pass a controversial law dealing with illegal immigrants.
On Monday, the ban on hiring or renting to illegal immigrants passed by an unofficial vote of 3,906 for the law, and 2,908 against it. Nearly 1,000 votes separate both sides in a special election that is grabbing national attention. The controversial issue drew a large number of absentee votes and a steady stream at the town's polling places on Monday.
At this point, it is not clear when the new law will actually take effect.
Not long after the Dodge County Election Commissioner released the results, the American Civil Liberties Union promised to file a lawsuit challenging the new law.
"If this law goes into effect, it will cause discrimination and racial profiling against Latinos and others who appear to be foreign born, including U.S. citizens," says ACLU Nebraska Executive Director, Laurel Marsh, "The ACLU Nebraska has no option but to turn to the courts to stop this un-American and unconstitutional ordinance before the law goes into effect."
The town of about 25,000 people has watched as its Hispanic population surged in the past two decades. Nearly 165 Hispanics, both legal and illegal, lived in Fremont in 1990. The total surged to 1,085 in 2000, according to census expert David Drozd at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He said an estimated 2,060 Hispanics lived there last year.
Communities that have passed such laws have faced costly legal bills and struggled to enforce them because of legal challenges. Hazleton, Pa., passed an ordinance in 2006 to fine landlords who rent to illegal immigrants and deny permits to businesses hiring them. The Dallas suburb of Farmers Branch, TX., also has tried for years to enforce a ban on landlords renting to illegal immigrants. Federal judges struck down both ordinances, but both are on appeal.

I sent this off to the city council tonight:
Council Members-
As various issues concern you in the management of our fine city I would like to propose another task to ensure that our fine citizens of this community are given first choice in any and all employment and contractual opportunities that may arise within the operational activities of our city. I would like to propose that the City of Murrieta also adopt the “Rule of Lawâ€Any and all comments & Opinions and postings by me are considered of my own opinion, and not of any ORG that I belong to! 57% of the vote is clearly a landslide even though those opposing the measure outspent our side 10 to 1!
Congratulations to the courageous people of Fremont! Let's just hope the courts don't shoot them down. Our team has had poor luck with the city level enforcement initiatives in the courts while our state level efforts have survived challenge.
