Illegal Immigrant nabbed on drug charges

ALBANY, GA -

Late this afternoon, Albany police made an arrest in Bethel Apartments that proved to be more than they anticipated.

Prurince Dice, a Corporal of APD Gang Unit says, "At approximately 4:48pm we received some information in reference to a wanted federal fugitive."

They arrested Winston Jones, who was previously deported for trafficking guns.

Dice says, "He was previously deported back to Jamaica, where he was from, and he had outstanding Federal warrants."

Jones, part of the Jamaican posse gang, managed to sneak back into the country.

Dice says, "After he was deported he illegally migrated himself back to the United States."

Back in the states, according to a tipster, he began to get back into the business of firearms distribution, acting on that tip, police went to his home. They didn't find guns, but they did find drugs.

Dice says, "In the event of searching for fire arms we located approximately 352 grams of Marijuana all packaged for distribution."

That is more than 35 hundred dollars worth and that's not his only trouble.

Dice says,"We later learned that he was an illegal immigrant here."

Police also arrested Jones' girlfriend Latoya Zackary on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, Zackary was booked immediately, but federal officials are being called in to help deal with Jones.

Dice says, "We will have him deported back to Jamaica and we have contacted the ICE Agents."

That deportation won't happen any time soon.

Dice says, "He will do time for the offenses he committed here in the US and then from that point he will be deported back to Jamaica."

Cracking down on illegal immigrants, the APD lets them know there aren't to many places to hide.
