    Navarrette:The Top 15 Immigration Lies

    The Top 15 Immigration Lies
Let's put our cards on the table and have a nice clean game.
January 9, 2011 - by Ruben Navarrette Jr.

The most essential virtue in the immigration debate is also the hardest to come by. It’s not compassion, as they claim on the left. Or toughness, as they insist on the right.

It’s honesty, plain and simple. You can’t fix a broken system without it. And yet, unfortunately, there’s not much of it here. In fact, it’s hard to imagine a policy debate in the United States that is more rife with lies, half-truths, and faulty assumptions.

Here are the top 15 whoppers, David Letterman style:

    15) “Illegal immigrants come to the United States for the free stuff (education, health care, welfare).â€

Oh, good lord. Where to start. Maybe with a good belly laugh. Except these folks actually believe this garbage.

I read all lies. Ruben you are correct. Under all 15 of those lines are lies. The excuses.
You cannot dedicate yourself to America unless you become in every
respect and with every purpose of your will thoroughly Americans. You
cannot become thoroughly Americans if you think of yourselves in groups. President Woodrow Wilson

Am I suffering from DéjÃ* vu? This rhetoric is now become nothing but a broken record. When I hear it, I have the visual of the teacher on the Charlie Brown cartoons..."blah blah blah blah".

This guy literally writes like someone who's in high school. Very naive, and wholly without any real world perspective.

The fact that he's given column inches (even in these sad, marginal e-zines) is flabbergasting.
Just because you're used to something doesn't make it right.

The polls show that a majority of Americans want immigration enforcement. Imo I think even more would want it if they were educated on the damage illegals cause the U.S. Im thankful for sites like fair, numbersusa and alipac for providing education and facts on illegals. Lists like this are the problem, I won't be buying the pack of lies and excuses Ruben Navarrette is selling.

Navarrette is making a good living as a shill for the Open Borders crowd. Unfortunately people tend to believe what they're told, if they're told it over and over. I speak to people regularly who actually believe that Americans won't do the jobs that are given to illegals.

BTW he has a point re re-entry. Right now the Border Patrol often drops deportees off in border towns, where there are hotels which cater to them. An effective deportation program should transport people deep into Mexico - as Eisenhower did.
