ATLANTA (AP) — Federal prosecutors say a College Park police officer accused of fraudulently obtaining U.S. citizenship has been indicted by a grand jury.

U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yatessaid Wednesday that an indictment charges Devon Campbell, a former police officer in Jamaica, with making false statements on his applications to obtain citizenship and a passport.

Authorities say 46-year-old Campbell, of Ellenwood, had lived in America under an alias for more than a decade and married a woman in Jonesboro in April 2001.

Prosecutors say Campbell and the woman divorced two months after he gained citizenship in June 2008 and he married another woman eight days later.

It's unclear if Campbell has an attorney.
