LAWTON -- A Cameron University professor and six students have helped develop a computer-based training program to help law officers enforce federal immigration laws.

Professor Donald Aguilar and the students developed the curriculum while Advance Systems Technology of Lawton is implementing the program.

The program will be used by some 500 law officers nationwide as part of a three-year pilot program.

It gives officers information on false identification and visas, how to notify consulates, diplomatic immunity and using law enforcement databases.

The training is based on federal law and is not customized to specific state laws.
