So true. They also came knowing they'd have to take care of themselves, the government wasn't expected to. No welfare, social security, food stamps, etc.

I couldn't agree with y'all more. I've seen the studies wherein there is no real evidence that people migrate because of social safety nets per se (although I don't entirely buy those studies either), but I think it is always a part of their equation. We subsidize their illegal existence in our country by allowing them to not pay taxes, collect from social programs, use our schools, our roads, etc. while they work for pittance wages. It's like they get a neverending stipend that the rest of us pay over and over and over.

People also complained that Spanish-speaking immigrants don't want to learn English.

While they may speak Spanish among themselves, studies show that immigrants are learning English at a faster rate than did the Italians and Polish immigrants who came here a century ago. They are also assimilating faster than their early-20th century counterparts, moving to the suburbs and intermarrying with non-Hispanics.

So now I'm not to believe my own eyes and ears and experiences? We're all supposed to believe their scewed numbers & stats? What absolute fools they are.

The immigrants of days gone by had none of the government hand holding there is today. They had no hand outs. It was sink or swim. The illegals of today are handed everything for free because they give them our money. In this article it says "studies show"...What studies? I want proof!!! All of us living with this plague in American know this is not true.

No matter what kind of spin they try to put on any of this, and boy are they trying hard, I know what I live everyday too. I know what I saw on TV. Mexican flags, Socialist organizations, racist and hateful signage. I know of Atzlan and that many hold to that belief. I know of the issues and problems over bi-lingual language everywhere. I know of the Spanish Radio and TV stations in my area that ten years ago didn't exist. I know of the non-assimilation problems and the de facto bi-nation as a result. I know of the lowering of wages and taking of jobs. I know of the massive drain on social services. I know of the crime influx from no drivers license & no insurance to hit & runs. I know of the massive document fraud & other felonies. I know first hand of the sovereignty issues. I know first hand of the 1986 amnesty debacle that has helped produce the current situation. I know what we will be passing on to future generations if we don't stop it now.

Exactly! I just can't figure out, whether or not any of the pro-illegals (who are not themselves illegal) even think about the future of our families.
