Illegal Alien Raids Net Dozens of Suspects


For months now, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have been investigating the unlawful hiring of illegal aliens in our area. Their hard work really paid off this weekend.

Last Friday night, September 1, WTOC was on the scene of a raid in Stillmore, Georgia. They wouldn't tell us anything then, but now we know just how big the bust turned out.

Agents say their raids over the Labor Day weekend were in Stillmore, Metter and Oak Park. The one in Stillmore was through the Crider Poultry Packing plant, focusing on individuals who used fraudulent documents to obtain employment.

Agents took about 100 individuals into custody on administrative immigration violations. The next step for the illegals is a courtroom.
