YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - U.S. Border Patrol agents say they've found a teenage girl who had been reported missing from a Mesa group home.

Agents assigned to a unit in San Luis noticed the suspicious behavior of a female juvenile attempting to cross the border into Mexico on Sunday.

They say the girl claimed to be a 19-year-old Mexican resident who was an illegal immigrant. Agents arrested and transported her to the Yuma Station.

Further investigation showed she was a 14-year-old U.S. citizen who had run away from a group home for troubled children in Mesa.

It was also discovered that she had a warrant for her arrest for allegedly assaulting a school resource officer.

The teenager was turned over to Yuma police. Her name wasn't immediately available Monday.
