    Gloria Allred Should Be Disbarred

This case is not about Gloria's client. It is about legal ethics and Allred's huge ego

    Gloria Allred Should Be Disbarred

    By Nancy Morgan

Media hound Gloria Allred should be disbarred.

Representing an illegal immigrant who is a former housekeeper of Meg Whitman, who just happens to be running for Governor of California, Ms. Allred has taken to the airwaves in a blatant, if not illegal attempt to tar Meg Whitman with the label of liar just ahead of the California gubernatorial election.

Ms. Allred appeared with her client Nicky Diaz Santillan on national television yesterday to show what a big meanie Meg Whitman is. With tears dripping down her cheeks and a quavering voice, Santillan detailed how (Republican) Meg Whitman abused her. She was actually forced to drive a car and allegedly Whitman refused to pay her overtime.

Allred actually referred to her client as a modern day Rosa Parks - willing to risk deportation in order to expose the various injustices perpetrated upon her. “Americans appreciate the huge risks she is takingâ€

    Gloria Allred's Motive Analyzed

In the polls in California, there has been a recent boast for Jerry Brown in his quest for governor against Meg Whitman.

Meg Brown, as readers of Statement Analysis here know, has been in a controversy about her alleged knowledge of immigration status of former housekeeper, Diaz, who was paid about $23 per hour.

Is the controversy politically motivated? Or, does famed attorney, Gloria Allred, seek only to help the less fortunate,

Allred claims that Whitney knew that Diaz was an illegal immigrant and abused Diaz during her tenure working as a nanny and housekeeper.

Is one attorney seeking to impact the outcome of an election? Or, is this an attorney who has dedicated her time to helping an unfortunate illegal?
Is it simply self promotion, as many lawyers take pro bono cases in exchange for free publicity?

We know that Gloria Allred has compared the housekeeper to Rosa Parks.

Is this, then, not politically motivated, but rather an issue of civil rights for those who are not American citizens?

With these possibilities, as well as others, we can only know answers through statements. Statement Analysis listens carefully to what we are told.

Gloria Allred was interviewed on Fox News.

Megyn Kelly: "Nicki Diaz was referred to you as a client. By whom was she referred?"

Note that this is a straight question seeking the name of the person who made contact with Nicki Diaz and brought her to the attention of Gloria Allred and, perhaps, media.

Gloria Allred: "She was referred to me by another attorney. And that is a very common practice in our firm."

Note first that Gloria Allred answered the question, at least in part. She did not avoid the question.

In Statement Analysis, we know that when a question is not answered, it shows a high level of sensitivity.

In Statement Analysis, we say "if the subject has not answered your question, the subject has answered your question."

We also note sensitivity in the answer:

"another attorney" does not specify gender.

We next notice the inclusion of "so, since, therefore, etc" as sensitive. (even "and hence" shows the same sensitivity even though it is improper; see Patsy Ramsey's Christmas card and the Ramsey "ransom" note)

When someone says these words, or anything like it, we recognize it as sensitive, as the subject feels the need to say "why" something happened. In the practice of Statement Analysis, we highlight these words in a marker, in order to, upon reviewing the statement, go back to sensitive areas for follow up questions. The question was "by whom" which is answered in a vague manner, but Allred gives additional information when she tells the audience what the general practice is. Note that she also said a "very" common practice; not a "common practice" which not only heightens the sensitivity, but singals the Interviewer that she has come across an important topic that will need further explanation.

Megyn Kelly: "Someone with ties to Jerry Brown or any member of his campaign?"

The sensitivity is not lost on Kelly, and she asks another direct question: does the referent have ties to the Jerry Brown campaign?

Gloria Allred: "This is just a person who referred her to us and we never comment on who refers cases to us."

Note "just" seeks reduction or minimization.

Note that the lawyer is now a "person". We note the concealment of gender.

Note the pronoun "we". Since the "person" referred Nicki Diaz to Gloria Allred, who holds celebrity status, we would expect to hear her take ownership with "me". The pronoun "we" causes more attention to be focused upon her answer.

Megyn Kelly: "but the allegation is that this is a political smear; that it is a political connection, so if you would just say that this person is not associated in any way with the Brown campaign, you could help put that to rest."

Note that Kelly shows clearly the reason for her question.

Gloria Allred: "we don't disclose who makes referrals"

Allred went on to say thst this is not political but it is about "Meg Whitman's hypocrisy". Allred said that her client provided a false social security number which Whitman was thus required to report to the government.

Kelly responded by reading her the statute which does not require reporting.

Allred said, "I don't care what one's opinion of the law is. If it's not required why do they include an envelop with a return address?".
