Glowing picture painted on border security
    By Jack E. Wilkinson

The Bush administration has made a glowing report on its alien program along the southern U.S. border.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff told a House of Representatives appropriations panel that the government will gain operational control of the border by 2008, two years earlier than expected, The Washington Times reported.

He said the catch-and-release program has been almost completely ended in the past few weeks and the government has nearly tripled the number of criminal arrests of employers hiring illegal aliens, the Times' report said.

The enforcement numbers are aimed at convincing Congress that U.S. President George Bush is making progress on border security as he seeks to pass a broader immigration bill.

Chertoff and Bush must really take us for fools. Do they really expect us to believe that the whole picture has changed from black to white overnight? These people are not to be trusted. Chertoff is just a huge talking head for Bush and will say and do anything that will further the Bush administration agenda. I'm not saying things haven't improved on the border, but who is to say it wouldn't immediately go back to horrible, or possibly even worse, just as fast as it improved once a compromise bill, to include amnesty was passed? Here is what I have to say to Chertoff - let us know when at least 85 percent of those currently residing illegally in the United States have been deported - then I'll know we're making progress!

Impressive how criminal arrest of employers hiring illegals is up from 1 a year to 3 a year now.

2008? Anybody else buying this crap? I didn't think so.
Come on DHS, you can do better than that. We could have the border sealed tomorrow if Congress would get moving.

Deceitful is what they are. They cannot be trusted.

They would do or say anything to make it appear that they are changing.
    They cannot be trusted.
Please help save America for our children and grandchildren... they are counting on us. THEY DESERVE the goodness of AMERICA not to be given to those who are stealing our children's future! ... and a congress who works for THEM!
