A gun rights organization is endorsing a Republican challenger to U.S. Sen. John McCain in the upcoming Senate primary.

Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America says GOA has officially endorsed Dr. Kelli Ward.

Ward, 47, is a first-term state senator and an osteopath.

The state primary is August 30, and McCain will face Ward and two other candidates, Alex Meluskey and Clair Van Steenwyk.
OneNewsNow has reported that Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, or ALIPAC, is also backing Ward over McCain.

Pratt says Ward is also a strong Second Amendment proponent who sponsored the Second Amendment Protection Act, a bill which would nullify federal gun control laws and executive orders.

"Kelli Ward got our endorsement," Pratt says, "because of a very strong pro-Second Amendment history in the Arizona Senate as well as stand against the continued invasion of illegal aliens into this country."
Pratt says the illegal alien issue is tied to gun rights, because most of them will likely vote for Democratic candidates.
"And if they get to vote," he predicts, "that very likely would mean the end of our Second Amendment in practice."
