U.S. BORDER PATROL Weekly Blotter: (12/08/2010)

Border Patrol agents seized over 21,612 pounds of marijuana. Agents arrested two criminal aliens and four gang members. There were two rocking incidents.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,446 pounds of marijuana, a minivan, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) near Runn, Texas, pursuant to a vehicle stop.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was a registered sex offender and had been previously removed from the United States.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,187 pounds of marijuana and a Chevrolet van near San Juan, Texas. Agents observed several subjects loading suspected narcotics into the van near the Rio Grande River. The van left the river area and drove north until the driver observed responding agents. The driver abandoned the vehicle and absconded across the river into Mexico. The marijuana was found in the vehicle.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a USC for alien smuggling near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history, including prior convictions for sexual abuse and sexual conduct with a minor in the state of Arizona.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 3,750 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Nogales, Arizona. The driver presented himself for inspection and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Ocotillo, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for lewd acts with a child under 14 in the state of California, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,234 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the vehicle and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,198 pounds of marijuana and a Ford minivan near Weslaco, Texas. Agents conducted a vehicle stop on a suspected smuggling load, and the driver of the vehicle failed to yield. Shortly thereafter, the driver abandoned the vehicle and absconded. Agents discovered the marijuana inside the vehicle. Records checks revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen in Mexico.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sunland Park, New Mexico. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 4,458 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested two USCs at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subjects presented themselves for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A search of the trailer uncovered the marijuana.

The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the vehicle and a search by agents uncovered the marijuana.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,186 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala at the traffic checkpoint near Westmoreland, California. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents revealed the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Brownsville, Texas. The subject was identified as a member of the Mexican Mafia gang and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.

The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Paisa gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,563 pounds of marijuana and a Ford pickup truck near La Casita, Texas. Agents observed the truck leaving the bank of the Rio Grande River at a high rate of speed. As agents approached the vehicle, the driver abandoned the truck and absconded into Mexico. The marijuana was discovered in the vehicle.

San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued a national of Mexico near Dulzura, California. Agents encountered the subject in a remote, mountainous area suffering from a compound fracture of the leg. Border Patrol emergency medical technicians stabilized the subject and evacuated her to a helicopter extraction point. The subject was airlifted to a local hospital and admitted for treatment.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 230 pounds of marijuana near Douglas, Arizona. Agents observed an ultra light aircraft enter the United States from Mexico, and with the assistance of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine air assets, identified a suspected drop zone. Agents responded to the drop zone and recovered the marijuana. The ultra light aircraft was observed flying south into Mexico.
