With the Iowa caucuses just days away, a pair of newspapers came out with Sunday endorsements of Republican Mitt Romney.

The Council Bluffs Non-Pareil lauded Romney's work outside the political arena.

"While he lacks a lengthy track record in the national and international political arena, he brings a proven track record of success in both the public and private sectors," the Non-Pareil said of Romney. "Those documented skills have prepared Romney well for the tasks facing the occupant of the Oval Office."

Romney also received the endorsement of the Marshalltown Times-Republican.

"Romney is the most conservative candidate who is running," the north central Iowa weekly newspaper said. "Romney’s views for a strong military, limited government, lower taxes, free market principles, immigration reform, family values and high ethical standards are what make him appealing to conservative voters and to this newspaper."

Romney, who is in a virtual tie with fellow GOP rival Mike Huckabee, started his day at the city hall in Columbus Junction, located in eastern Iowa. The Romney campaign addressed comments made yesterday by Huckabee questioning the former Massachusetts governor's honesty.

“Mike Huckabee’s record is his own," Romney spokesman Tim Albrecht said. "These are Mike Huckabee’s wrong policies, his tax hikes, his spending binges and his bad judgment on everything from illegal immigration to granting clemency to felons.

“Mike Huckabee never refutes the facts of his troubling record. It’s a record that is tough to defend, so his testiness and irritability when being questioned about it is obvious. But, Mike Huckabee’s lashing out with personal attacks against Governor Romney that have no merit or substance is quite unfortunate. Campaigns should be about the issues.â€

    That's not true.
