GOV CREW SHOVES PROTESTER

October 9, 2007 -- A man who noisily protested Gov. Spitzer's plan for issuing drivers' licenses to illegal aliens at yesterday's Columbus Day Parade found himself shoved by a member of the governor's detail.
The dust-up happened midway along the parade route when the white-haired man stepped from behind the barricades along the sidewalk and into the parade traffic as Spitzer passed by.

Railing about licenses for illegals, the man shouted out, "You're gonna be a one-term [official!]"

A tall, black-suited guard - wearing a state pin and an earpiece and who was apparently a member of Spitzer's detail - walked up to the man and pushed him back toward the sidewalk. A recent poll showed a majority of New Yorkers disagree with Spitzer's plan.

A spokeswoman for the governor didn't respond to requests for comment about the incident.
