CHARLOTTE COUNTY: More of your tax dollars are about to be locked up in Southwest Florida's jails. The federal government is giving Charlotte County tens of thousands of dollars to house illegal immigrants charged with a crime.
It's a list that reads like a United Nations roll call.
"You got Canada, Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Germany. I mean there is a wide variety of countries that are involved in this report," said Jail Commander Major Tom Rodgers.
First they snuck into the country illegally, then they were arrested for crimes including rape and murder. The number of illegal immigrants in Charlotte County's jail is growing each year.
"There's a cost associated with any inmate in custody. So yes if these people are in custody, it does cost us money," said Rodgers.
It costs hundreds of thousands of dollars each year. For the first time ever, taxpayers in Charlotte County are getting a break. The State Criminal Alien Assistance Program, or SCAAP uses federal money to help cover the cost. All it takes is a detailed inmate report by jail staff.
"We are always excited, especially when you have a good report. And I think hopefully this will bring back a lot of money for the county," said Rodgers.
Just because an illegal immigrant is arrested doesn't mean they'll be deported. Many who find a way to bond out simply disappear.
Any inmate suspected of being an illegal immigrant is reported to the government. But so far, very few have been sent back to their home country.
"We let them go out the door. If immigration does not place a hold on them or detain them, then we let them go like anyone else," said Rodgers.
The jail commander admits there's nothing he can do once an illegal immigrant is allowed to go free. He does agree that the federal grant money makes it a lot easier to keep them locked away until then.
Charlotte County could get a check for more than $100,000 from the SCAAP program. Last year Collier County got $600,000.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn

Here is another reform we need for dealing with illegal aliens: Don't allow them out on bail for any reason and for any crime. They are a national security risk and must not be allowed out in the general public. This is our country, and we can make whatever laws are necessary for the protection of the American citizen. PROTECTION OF THE AMERICAN CITIZEN. This is what it is all about.

Never mind detaining them, once found to be in this country illegally, deport them immediately. No need to pay for them, ship them back to their own country and let them pay for detaining them as criminals.
Freedom isn't free... Don't forget the men who died and gave that right to all of us....

If we had real Americans for politicians (Bush, you are a traitor in my opinion) we would be billing those foreign governments for all costs associated with arresting, incarcerating and deporting THEIR citizens.
And, after warning them and allowing a suitable period.... a couple weeks or so.... prepare a declaration of war.
Hey!!!! We're being invaded.
I consider myself at war.
Too bad the elites who are doing so well within the present system are too self-centered and greedy to act as Americans.
