Thread: In Government, Too Illegals Employed

Nearly everyone professes to agree that the government should crack down on employers who hire illegal aliens. But it appears that the government needs, first, to crack down on itself. That’s the story told in a footnote of an audit report quietly released a year ago by the inspector general of a federal agency that seemingly has nothing to do with immigration.

It indicates that the Bush administration itself has employed aliens not authorized to work in the United States. Year after year, first the Justice Department and then the Department of Homeland Security were given information that would have allowed them to pinpoint exactly who these unauthorized alien workers were and which federal agencies employed them. Yet, by the end of the period covered by the audit report (which ran through tax year 2003), the problem remained unsolved. (The inspector general has not yet analyzed the relevant data for tax years after 2003.)

Which agencies employed these aliens? The government won’t say. Citing a provision in the tax code, the inspector general’s office says it is prohibited from publicly identifying them, and so, for now, they stay “in the shadows.â€

This is insidious, illegal, outrageous, a slap in the face to American citizens and must be "brought out of the shadows and into the light of day". We should not let this drop. When we find out enough, get it to every newspape,talk show, blogger we can think of.

I know that one day when we were calling ...this was a couple of weeks ago. I called one of the senators on a weekend, I believe it was Inouye, Daniel K. (D-HI) office. When the voice mail picked up I heard...."hello, hello?...como esta, muei bien? (sp). Now...I wonder if that cleaning staff is LEGAL!!!!! (DC offices!) I asked the switchboard operater if they speak english and she told me some of them do????????? Told me that all the cleaning staff was hispanic except for one African American person!

I would not doubt if any of these people were illegal!!!!!! This president has shown where his loyalties are!!!! ... and many of our elected officials!!!

This doesn't surprise me in the least. Illegal aliens have proudly announced the fact that they have managed to infiltrate some of the best paid jobs Americans used to be able to hope to have, including those in state agencie.

It further wouldn't surprise me if Bush and others facilitated the hiring by calling in "favors" or "putting in a good word".

Nothing about anything dealing with this issue surprises me anymore, just upsets me..........

My brother and his wife visited DC not long ago and said it was overrun by illegals who spoke no English, but were working construction jobs!

I'm looking forward to informing young illegal males that they are legally required to register for selective service. This applies between the ages of 18 and 26, but also applies to those who had not yet turned 26 during the time of requirement of registration. I may even do this at some of these open borders demonstration and watch their supporters turn livid with rage!! There are some big penalties--in theory, at least--for those who have failed to register.

Whether the government would actually enforce this law, and whether they would be able to track and apprehend scofflaws is a valid question. But I bet these guys streaming in here thinking this is nothing but a land of milk and honey are going to be in shock when they learn that they also could be inducted into the US military, especially during a time of War. I need to look at the law but I wonder if there are also penalties for those who aid and abet them. The elective Service System is independent of Homeland Security, so lack of enforcement in DHS may not carry over to the SSS. Adios to your carefree life, amigos!
