Other Republicans, however, said the party must stop looking backward to Ronald Reagan, start closing the technology gap the Obama campaign exposed and broaden its appeal to younger and more diverse voters.
Sounds like Ron Paul was doing exactly that, when the RINOS decided to ignore them and put McLAME in.

I agree Sosad. McCain and other Republicans in the House and Senate did not lose for opposing amnesty, they lost because they were in the shadow of an incompetent two-term President from their party who was indistinguishable from Democrats in important ways (and of course, McCain didn't really change his position on immigration.)

And they lost because of the financial meltdown that hit in September -- for which voters (including Latinos) blamed the incumbent party in the White House.

It would have been tough for any Republican to follow a two-term member of his own party -- especially with a poor economy and with two ongoing wars-- but with 72-year-old McCain against a dynamic young Obama (who raised and spent much more than him) McCain didn't stand a chance. All the more so because he alienated what was supposed to be his base.

In other words, this was an Obama victory, not a major realignment in which belief in secure borders and common sense was rejected. But nonetheless we should contact our Reps and Senators and tell them to stand with Sens. DeMint, Sessions et al. in opposing amnesty and sticking up for American workers.

Senators Graham and Martinez are in denial. They sound like they would rather support their sponsors, employers of illegal aliens, than support the Republican Party or even the country. Good luck on getting them to realize that they, along with Sen. McCain, are the very reason the GOP took a dive.

But maybe the RNC realizes now the folly of their ways, alienating the Christian and conservative members of the party by bowing to their handlers and big donors who exploit illegal aliens for filthy profits.

I'd like to start an "illegal alien free" mutual fund, like the vice-free funds and the environmentalist or green funds. That might speak louder than boycotting Swift and Tyson and Pilgrim's Pride.
One man's terrorist is another man's undocumented worker.

Unless we enforce laws against illegal aliens today,
tomorrow WE may wake up as illegals.

The last word: illegal aliens are ILLEGAL!

Hispanics were only 8% of the voting population( popular vote ) ! Lets stop over-dramatizing their importance in this election. Hispanics had little to do with McCains loss, just as they had little to do with Obama's win!

I'm sick and tired of this group getting huge amounts of importance heaped upon them simply because people like Martinez do so out of political self-preservation!

Exactly. They want Real Change, stop trying to draw people in and start talking about re-instating the Constitution.

South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, the head of the most conservative faction of Senate Republicans, said the Democratic election gains vindicated his hard-edged call for a return to the Reaganite roots of limited government and low taxes.

"We have got to clean up, reform and rebuild before we can ask the American people to trust us again," DeMint said. "This election reflects a failure of Republicans to keep their conservative promises."

DeMint derided the financial bailout package pushed by President Bush and passed by Congress last month as "a trillion-dollar bust." He urged Republicans to abandon "the Democrat-lite strategy of higher spending and bigger government."
If you agree with what Sen. Jim DeMint is saying, you may want to call his office to advise him that he has your support. Also, be sure to thank him for opposing amnesty and for his career and recent grades of A from NumbersUSA. I have found his office to be polite and pleased to hear from conservatives.

How did that traitorous Lindsey Graham get reelected? What is the matter with the poeple in South Carolina that they couldn't rid us of his presence in the senate?

The short answer is that McCain lost because of Grahm and Martinez, and those in the RNC like them. If we were having a vote on who sucks the most...Grahm, Martinez or the rest of the RNC the MSM would say it's too close to call.
