TULSA, Okla. A Tulsa group opposed to illegal immigration is demanding Mayor Kathy Taylor fire Police Chief Dave Been.

Taylor says she sees no reason to act on the demand and Been says the group's comments make it sound as if the members are - quote - "bigots."

The demand from Immigration Reform for Oklahoma Now is upset with comments Been made about the police having a "hands-off" policy on illegal immigrants.

Been says Tulsa police enforce state and local laws but not federal immigration rules. He says if anyone who's arrested turns out to be an illegal immigrant then federal immigration officials are called.

He says Tulsa is one of 58 major cities with the same policy.
