Group tries to stop Roseville man’s deportation

A national group has presented a petition with 6,500 signatures collected online to immigration officials in Washington, D.C., in an effort to prevent the deportation of a Roseville man brought to the U.S. illegally as a boy.

Ivan Nikolov, 22, has been held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement pending deportation since his mother and his aunt were arrested May 5. Three leaders of grassroots groups that support the Dream Act — a pending Congressional bill that supports giving citizenship to those brought to the U.S. illegally as children — presented the petition and a letter of support from Michigan Sen. Carl Levin to ICE officials today.
