Growing issue in schools with drug recruiters

Law enforcement officers have long played a role in the public schools to warn students about the hazards of drug use. Recently, however, the level of danger for young people has increased.

Now, not only do young people have to fend off dealers trying to get them involved with illegal drugs but they have to avoid recruiters trying to get them involved in the drug trade itself.

As recently reported here, drug smugglers have found a new tool to use to smuggle their drugs across the border from Mexico into the United States. They are recruiting juveniles on this side of the border to carry the drugs through the local ports of entry.

Increased security and surveillance on the American side of the border has made it more difficult for the Mexican gangs to smuggle drugs into this country using vehicles and couriers that cross in remote areas of the desert near here. So now they are strapping drugs to young teenage “mulesâ€
