U.S. BORDER PATROL Weekly Blotter: February 24 - March 2

(03/02/2011)Border Patrol agents seized over 18,804 pounds of marijuana and 2.7 pounds of heroin. Agents arrested 19 criminal aliens and nine gang members. There were eight rocking incidents.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history, including prior convictions for involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico in El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,184 pounds of marijuana and a Plymouth van near Granjeno, Texas. Agents observed several subjects loading bundles of suspected narcotics into the vehicle near the Rio Grande River. When agents responded to the area, the subjects abandoned the vehicle and absconded into Mexico. Agents searched the van and discovered the marijuana inside.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Bisbee, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual assault in the state of Colorado and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico, and seized 143 pounds of marijuana, a handgun, and a night vision monocular device near Three Points, Arizona. Records checks revealed the handgun was reported stolen in the state of Arizona.


Yuma Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Yuma, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador at the traffic checkpoint near Nyland, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor in the state of California and had been previously ordered removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Fort Hancock, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for indecent liberties with a child in the state of North Carolina and had been previously removed from the United States.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Laredo, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the MS-13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,210 pounds of marijuana and a Ford pickup truck near Fronton, Texas. The pickup truck was found abandoned and a search by agents uncovered the marijuana inside.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued an illegal alien from Mexico in the mountains near Sierra Vista, Arizona. Local search and rescue personnel and CBP Office of Air and Marine (OAM) assets assisted in the rescue of the subject, who was suffering from hypothermia and dehydration. The subject was transported to a local hospital for treatment.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor in the state of California and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a United States Citizen (USC) and seized 2.7 pounds of heroin at the traffic checkpoint near Las Cruces, New Mexico. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle, a subsequent search revealed the contraband hidden in the subject’s shoes.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Laredo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for murder in the state of Texas and had been previously removed from the United States.


Miami Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a national of Haiti in Juno Beach, Florida. Records checks revealed the subject was a member of the Two Haitian Boyz gang and had an extensive criminal history, including convictions for burglary, grand theft - motor vehicle, robbery, and battery.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,419 pounds of marijuana and a Ford Expedition near Gila Bend, Arizona. Agents observed a vehicle suspected of involvement in illegal activity. When agents approached, the driver abandoned the vehicle and absconded. Agents back tracked the tire sign of the vehicle and discovered the marijuana hidden under a tarp.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico in El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Paisa gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ocotillo, California. Records checks revealed the subject had prior convictions in the state of Missouri for rape, incest with a minor, and possession of a controlled substance. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,216 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 4,708 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested two nationals of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subjects presented themselves for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual battery in the state of Kansas and had also been previously removed from the United States.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Sierra Blanca, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño 13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for parole violation issued in the state of Minnesota.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for failure to appear on a charge of 1st degree vehicular homicide issued in the state of Georgia. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Abram, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for rape issued in the state of California and had been previously removed from the United States.


Yuma Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ajo, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for lewd acts with a minor under 14 years of age, and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 250 pounds of marijuana, a Nissan Pathfinder, and arrested two nationals of Mexico near El Centro, California. Agents observed an ultralight aircraft (ULA) incursion and with the assistance of CBP OAM assets, were able to locate the drop zone where they recovered the marijuana and the two subjects.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico in Calexico, California. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Vatos Locos gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject was a member of the Sureño gang. The subject also had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Fort Hancock, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject was a member of the Paisa gang and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Mission, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for three counts of murder issued in the state of Illinois.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Why, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for solicitation to commit murder in the state of California. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Carrizo Springs, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject was a registered sex offender in the state of Florida and had been previously removed from the United States.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 3,922 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested two nationals of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Dulzura, California. The subjects presented themselves for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana in the trailer.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Lukeville, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for burglary, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 203 pounds of marijuana following a ULA incursion near Douglas, Arizona. Agents observed the ULA in U.S. airspace and discovered the marijuana at the suspected drop zone.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 4,479 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Nogales, Arizona. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.
