If memory serves me correctly, "teacher of record" is usually a fix of sorts. Could be a master teacher covering for a student teacher. Could be a teacher covering for a paraprofessional rightly or wrongly in reponse to complaints or a state audit or something. Could be a teacher covering for one or more subs long-term as the district searches new hires.

One thing is clear though, it is not to be used as a vehicle to sneak in curriculum that normally wouldn't see the light of day.

TUSD, its administrators and board, as well as the teachers who were pushing this are most likely in violation of the education code for their state.

Expect a curriculum and testing audit...and beleive me...all teachers in TUSD good, mediocre and bad alike will be demoralized having state representative right there on sight looking over their shoulders day in, day out, week in, week out.

After I noted this article in the Arizona Daily Star, the high school students attending the pro-illegal alien marches of May, 2007 became more understandable. During that time, some of the high schools were reported to be encouraging their students to join in the marches. Many high school students did join in. After which, the schools picked them up in school busses to return to school. That was the march when the first Mexican flags were seen in the streets of Tucson.
This year, 2008, the May marching attendance was down drastically, no Mexican flags were seen, and the high school students were told to remain in the classroom or face disciplinary action. This was due to public outcry from the previous May's march. Now we learn that the students were prompted by La Raza preaching their agenda to high school students for severl years prior to the march!

Nice find DonaldH. I see this as another facet of the socialized government education system that proves it's not about the kids. It's not intended to educate. It's not intended to create patriots. It's a scam intended to indoctrinate our children to a globalist, particularly Mexican, agenda at taxpayer expense. It's a very bad idea for government to educate our children. Besides, there's some pretty convincing science that Solutrean (click here) peoples preceded those who "gave" Aztlan to the Mexicans.

They should call this former teacher and have him testify to the Arizona Stage legislature before they vote on that law which would keep these Raza programs from functioning. It would be VERY eye-opening to the lawmakers!!!

This is America...why is the racist, Marxist, separatist organization, LaRaza, even ALLOWED to interfere with our school system? Why are ALL of the corporate Elites funding them when their basic philosphy is to instill hate toward the 'rich white man' for 'enslaving' them when, after all...this land belongs to them!

We need to set them straight...pronto! Starting with a history of the Mexican-American War and the Treaty of Guadalupe Hildago...the TRUE facts! The War was fought fair and square...we paid Mexico $15M dollars...AND we gave every single Mexican one year to decide whether they wanted to stay on our newly acquired land...or return to Mexico! The stipulation was...if you return to Mexico, you will be considered citizens of Mexico...if you stay...you will become citizens of the US. Many left...some stayed!

As far as the rich white man being the enemy 'slave master'...that's ludicrous! There is not one Mexican who came to this country on a 'slave ship' against their will! They are slithering over our border at the rate of 1M a year! We can't get rid of them! They won't leave! They are ILLEGAL!

It's AMERICANS who are the victims of the big, bad 'slave masters'..not the illegal aliens who are now living in luxury compared to their lives in Mexico! It's AMERICANS who have seen their salaries cut in half by the invaders. It's AMERICANS who are losing their jobs to the invaders! It's AMERICANS who are being forced to pay for the third worlders to have the free medical, schools, and welfare subsidies! It's AMERICANS who are being shoved to the back of the bus!

The Razas are the RACISTS and the Corporations are funding them! Get them out of our schools, our lives, and our country!

FYI, the State School Superintendent is totally opposed to this curriculum and they shut him down whenever he addresses it to them. The school district is in dire financial shape, but they continue spending my tax dollars on this.

We have a very good School Superintendent, but it is the district's right to do what they're doing and the people of Tucson don't speak out about this. As the article said, there's a U.S. Congressman (Raul Grijalva) behind this curriculum.
