Gutierrez: Immigration reform vital to nation's economy
Gutierrez: Immigration reform vital to nation's economy
Oct 1, 2007 12:17 PM PDT
COLUMBIA, SC (AP) - U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez says the economy will suffer if Congress doesn't pass comprehensive immigration reform.
Gutierrez said during a visit to the University of South Carolina that the United States doesn't have enough workers to keep the economy growing.
The native of Cuba told business students at the university that the nation must either come together on a policy or face a declining economy.
He says if lawmakers are able to succeed on immigration reform the advantages will last for the rest of this century.
Gutierrez came to the college with Republican Senator Lindsey Graham. The two got to know each other while crafting immigration legislation that failed in Congress.

yea, if he has it his way. It will benefit the corporate elite, not the American people. What is wrong with him? Oh I know, he wants that NAU thing going on. What BS. We have to save this country from Clinto, Guiliani etc. These are really exciting but terrifying times.

Our economy has overcome many recessions, panics, and depressions (1873, 1893, 1929 etc.) and has managed to survive -- even thrive. To imply that our economy is dependent upon millions of low skilled immigrants is simply nonsensical. Maybe some poorly managed sectors of the economy will suffer in the short run, but in the long run our economy and society would be better off without an influx of millions of illegal aliens.

NO proof of this whatsoever. Every company that was raided had people lined-up to apply for work. This is pure BS!

You are correct Populist that we have survived many things, but this illegal immigration invasion and open borders/NAU plan is another one that has the potential to do us in as a sovereign nation under the American flag if we do not continue to speak up and gather other American voices with us and demand that our laws be enforced and that our borders be protected..
We must be watchmen and alert all those that we possible can to these underlying dangers from these questionable Americans representing us and our great nation.
Psalm 91Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Not to mention the additional benefit our economy will receive when the 40 or 50 billion USD that previous was exported just to Mexico will then stay in the country, and in our economy. That, in itself, would be a significant boost to the economy.

Just one more idiot in a crowd of idiots. The only nation that immigration reform is vital to is Mexico's.
